lost memory card

Asked by horsie12

I was trying to write an img on 2gb micro sd card however it came up Error 8 when the file was 99% done. Since then, the memory card shows 248mb only even after formatting.
Seems like the card is lost or am I wrong?

Try downloading https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_3/ or the HP USB Drive Formatter (google for it). These tools will properly reconfigure the memory device back to full size.

Note that this works on 99% of the drives I have tested (and from what I have read from others on the internet). The 1% that have failed me were NOT related to win32image writer (one failed after copying photos to it). These issues are rare, but seem to be happening more frequently as manufacturers are getting complacent with their testing. What appears to be happening (from what I have read on other forums) is that the NAND memory that programs the controller on these memory devices will fail (again, not by using this tool - it is nearly impossible without very low level specific programming not found in Windows or Linux drivers).

I hope one of these utilities works for you. Best of luck.

Can you help with this problem?
