Wi Fi can't connect using wicd

Asked by Oskar

Hi there!
I'm using ASUS wireless (with SIM Card USB included) router. It was easy to connect when on Win7
 - when I start with UbuntuStudio 14.04 Thrusty Thar there wasn't any wi-fi environment or network manager to find using xfce4.
- Network Manager doesn't show or appears on the Desktop to obtain any router or wi-fi signal strenght...etc
- Made some search, read some Forums about the same issues complaining & having the same problem==> no wi-fi connection or any app to view the signal strenght, to set up some settings. There appears wicd which I was installed successfully.
-The wi-fi ASUS router is there, got signal 89% when connect it demands some settings that I can't remedy & know to fill in. Like SSID, WPA2 which ASUS suports not on the list WPA2-PEAP or WPA2-LEAP (which demands domain (what a domain , of whom, where to get it..) ==> [] Use Static IPs,
               [] Use Static DNS,
[] Use these settings for all networks sharing this essid,
[] Use encryption ( when in a pub using Wi-Fi it is WPA 1/2 (Hex [0-9/A-F]) There are many other encryptions as well...
- when all done (..as a n00b..??)press [OK] there follows 1 minute procedure to connect/wicd reports it is establishing connection with the router/
- The result= X NOT CONNECTED!
What should I have to do ?? Obviously not very far from the solution but I don't know. I'm very thankfully in advance for the advice to solve the issue. Best Regards Oskar
