802.11i/WPA2 Version 1 with WICD

Asked by Martin Huber

I would like to connect to a WLAN using WICD, but up to now, with everything I tried I get just the output "Bad Password". I tried all possible templates and did some tries writing an own template.

Version of WICD: 1.7.4

Here are the details of the WLAN:

IE: IEEE 802.11i/WPA2 Version 1
Group Cipher : CCMP
Pairwise Ciphers (1) : CCMP
Authentication Suites (1) : 802.1x

Further I've got a CA certificate of my institution as *.crt file.

What I get in wicd.log (using the debugging mode) are messages of the following kind

2017/08/18 07:48:52 :: ifconfig wlp2s0

After further hours of googling I have finally found the solution

https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=88366

So the working template looks as follows:

name = ...
author = ...
version = ...
require identity *Identity password *Password
protected password *Password
-----
ctrl_interface=/var/run/wpa_supplicant
network={
        ssid="$_ESSID"
        key_mgmt=WPA-EAP
        identity="$_IDENTITY"
        password="$_PASSWORD"
}
