Trying to get wicd working on snickerdoodle

Asked by Jamil J. Weatherbee

From the command line we currently use 'iw', 'ifconfig', 'wpa_supplicant' and 'dhclient' to bring up the wlan0 interface manually. I've installed wicd-curses and the wicd service will take over at the very least doing the equivanent of 'ifconfig wlan0 up' but beyond that we cannot get it to scan the networks or make any connections.

Where do we start in terms of getting wicd to work correctly on snickerdoodle?
