Why ICAO code and not WMO number?

Hi,

on the NOAA web site I have seen that the WMO number is more detailed.
I can see only few ICAO codes, instead all meteorological station have a WMO code.

That's because of pymetar, the library the application uses to retrieve the info from NOAA
pymetar.ReportFetcher takes the ICAO location indicator as parameter, so...

If anyone knows of a better service to use as source...
