@Panagiotis: there two possible ways to move further:
1) Implement Python/GObject bindings for ido library (used in Sound and Me indicators)
2) Port Weather Indicator to Vala.

I have no expirience in creating bindings, but have a strong desire to learn Vala and involve more people in Weather Indicator development.

So I suggest to create another branch for porting the indicator to Vala. There are still several bugs to fix in the next Weather Indicator release, I guess, I'll be mostly busy with them.

Panagotis, could you please create a separate branch with a most basic implementation of the applet? Please, contact me if need any details on the structure of Weather Indicator indicator.
