Mono icon for 11.04.02

Asked by Miloš Jovanović

Hi,
I was wondering how I could enable a mono icon in version 11.04.02 'Cloudy'. Like this, the indicator doesn't really match the rest of the panel at all. Where does the applet get the icons from? (I could perhaps manually replace them).
Thanks!

At the moment, we don't have mono icons for:
- the icon before you set up a location (which is orange, implying that it needs attention)
- the icon for "unknown condition"
- the icon for "sunny"/"clear" etc (bug #748861 in ubuntu-mono)

Which of these did you think needs fixing? Everything else should have a mono icon, and if you don't see a mono icon with the Ambience or Radiance themes then it's a bug. The mono icons (installed with Ubuntu, not weather-indicator) live in /usr/share/icons/ubuntu-mono-*/status/16/weather-*

The icon (like the weather at the moment) is sunny/clear, so that must be what's happening. If I switch to a location that's raining, the icon is mono (using the Ambiance/Radiance theme).

In the Faenza theme (which I generally use) none of the weather icons seem to be mono (from the few locations/weather patterns that I've tried). I'm not sure if that's a bug or a feature. :)

Thanks for the reply, I'll wait for the sunny/daytime icon in mono.

I get the feeling that whoever designed the icons didn't live in a place with good weather!

I'd consider it a bug with that theme - it doesn't provide its own weather icons, and it probably should fall back on other popular/full featured monochrome themes (such as ubuntu-mono) before it falls back on the standard gnome icons. If weather-indicator forced monochrome icons, then it would look ridiculous on non-monochrome themes.

Heads up: if you want to use weather-indicator in a theme like Faenza which gets its icons from gnome, then you might encounter bug #710295 when it's cloudy.

I just made icons for the clear/day condition, added them to the bug report, so it's just a question of time now.
