multiplayer game doesn't start

Asked by pcalligaris

I found this problem using windows xp pro sp2 in a wmware machine under Ubuntu 11.04 in multiplayer mode. When I created a new game on the server and I connect the host computer to the ip address of the server it seems all ok, I join to the game, the host player appears on the server's display, I click on "available" on host's display and then the start's button on server is ready.
After the click on "Start" the server's game starts without host and the waiting host displays after 60 seconds "cannot reach the server".
I've tested the Lan and there's no problems, no firewalls, perfect timings of ping etc.
Just one time the game started, when I used the 2 virtual machines on the same host.
When i moved the same virtual machine on others systems (windows7 Home 32bit, or win xp pro sp3) the problem stills the same.
Thanks for your attention.

I have no problem with network game on one computer.

I tested on Ubuntu Oneiric: Started one Wargus instance and created multiplayer game. Then I started second instance and joined to hosted game on localhost. Then I started multiplayer game and all working fine.

I've tryed to use natively stratagus and wargus on Ubuntu 11.04, but I found problems with import of warcraft puds.
now with latest wargus all is ok, import goes well, and client and server goes ok.
I'll trash virtual xp machines because now there is no need of them.
Now i'll try to create some usb pen with Live Ubuntu and Wargus installation to play together with friends.
thanks a lot for your help
ciao!!
