How to mod graphics?

Asked by vota

I found Wargus quite simple to mod (I know nothing of lua and the language, but wargus is very intuitive) except for one thing: the graphics.
If I mod a unit png (for example I put a bigger shield to footman) the unit will keep the red color. That means that I can create new units that are like the daemon: their color don't change and it is very annoying if your faction has another color.
There is any way to create a new unit without this bug? I used gimp.

You should use some specific color palette for player color
in wargus, DefinePlayerColorIndex(208, 4)
so color 208 to 211 are player color

I tried to paint the units with color 208 but they get only a little black with no changes.
Even if I pick the unit png and I rename it I earn a unit that become red.
I tried with tweakpng to set 208 to palette and no results.

in stratagus/tools, there is a png2stratagus which should fix palette.
Maybe, that may help.
