wallch 4.0 no option to disable indicator icon

Asked by Vanishing

Hi:
Recently I upgraded to wallch 4.0, like the new UI, however I can't see to find an option to disable indicator icon..

Is there any hidden config I can edit?

Thanks

Hey Vanishing!

No, there isn't any hidden configuration that allows you to disable the indicator icon. We considered that the indicator provides vital controls for the program while still being as less annoying as possible. Thus it is always visible.

If you don't want to see the indicator (but it will still be there), one hackish solution would be to head to /usr/share/wallch/. This is the location for Wallch's indicator icons. You can alter them to your liking. This means that you can replace them with fully transparent images. This will make the Wallch indicator icon invisible. It would be good the new files to have the same dimensions with the old ones (because I remember that there were some size restrictions on indicator icons).

There may be a better solution that I am not aware of, though.

Make sure the new files to have the name of the original ones.

If you didn't fully understand the process, please let me know.

Hello, I would like to see the option to hide the icon and keep wallch running in the background. I'd like to think of the wallpaper something like an OS setting that should not take any space on my desktop. Thanks for the app btw :)

Hello Alex,

I also searching for an solution to remove the status indicator icon. I have no use for it and it is only taking space on my panel. I also read your post but I think this is more a bad hack then a workaround. Also It will take the space too.

Would be very happy if you could implement this and I would definitely make a little donation :-).
