Hello Heow Goodman and thanks for the interest.
Wallch is not the program which actually draws the desktop, Wallch just sends the command to the system so as to change the background, and the systems takes care of the rest. Consequently Wallch currently cannot handle such an operation.

But, this effect does exist, doesn't it?

Good point.

I was thinking, you could do a fade-out/fade-in simply by darkening/lightening the background and replacing it many times a second. Of course wallch would then be doing 50x the work, flodding the API and burning MHz, but that's the price of art! :-)

Yes, as you can understand this is not possible currently (and possibly in the future as well).
