What is pre-caching?

pre-cache cache

When a user clicks on an artist or an album, Viridian first checks its local database to see if it has information on that artist or album, and if it doesn't it will query the Ampache server, this can typically take 2-3 seconds.

Pre-caching will go through the list of artists and albums and cache the entire catalog locally in the background (this will cause Viridian to respond a little slower than normal, but it will still work and play music as expected). Pre-caching can take a long time depending on the size of your catalog, but will greatly reduce the loading time when selecting artists/albums.
