variety shows image files in random order

Asked by Dave Rogers

Variety installed successfully on Ubuntu 18.04 LTS. Under Preferences, I selected a folder with ~50 JPG image files (such as 01.jpg, 02.jpg, ... 50.jpg) and change wallpaper every 1-minute. Variety works well but the image sequence seems random. Is there a way I can I tell variety to display files in sequence by file name?

Yes, at the moment Variety only supports random ordering. I am (slowly) working on support for some sort of sequential mode - https://github.com/varietywalls/variety/issues/215.

Did you stop working on this? I really wanted this feature to be added! :-(

We added this feature in 0.8.x! If you upgrade, you should see in a Sequential Albums option in the "Add..." menu .
