Keep the aspect ratio of the images

Asked by Rishabh Gupta

Is there any option to keep the aspect ratio of any image as it is? Some images get stretched and look weird. And any option for setting image as crop, or fill, etc?

The wallpaper is displayed according to your current desktop environment's setting. For Ubuntu, you may change it from the Appearance settings (the default setting is Zoom). Variety does not provide options to override this setting.

For some desktop environments you may have to edit the command for setting the wallpaper on your specific DE in ~/.config/variety/scripts/set_wallpaper.

Its also possible to adjust in the gnome-tweak tool; Appearance - background - adjustment

i must say (to try to help you) i changed it myself a while ago in other settings.. but every setting became strange to look at so i went back to standard zoom. The slideshow part of Variety is also nice as wallpaper changer, its in the repos. It does a nice pan.

regards, i hope it helped.

Thank you for providing the answer to the scaling question.
I went to Preferences/Backgrounds/Settings/Picture aspect and set it to Scaled.

Now everything displays correctly.

Pop OS distro with the Cinnamon desktop.
