Constantly Copying and Deleting File in Pictures Folder

Asked by James M. Roche

I have a file that starts with variety-copied-wallpaper, ie variety-copied-wallpaper-f0a2fc58ec3e38a42b4e0cad51fb8505.jpg constantly being created and deleted in my ~/Pictures folder. I don't think it always did this... I'm not sure why it started. I sync my Pictures folder with Dropbox, so this means Dropbox is constantly downloading and removing a picture for no reason, wasting bandwidth, and annoying me with constant notifications. How can I stop/change this behavior? It seems like a more appropriate place for this file would be in /tmp or ~/.config or somewhere.

Check your options under Customize -> Login screen support. If you want LightDM to be able to use the wallpaper, it needs to be copied to a public folder. You can manually choose another folder to be used for this.

The copying to Pictures will also happen if you are under KDE.

/tmp is a no-go, as it is emptied on restart, ~/.config is not public.

Can you help with this problem?
