Using Variety on a KDE Plasma Desktop (Kubuntu 15.04)

Asked by Roy Gilby

I have been using Variety on the KDE Plasma Desktop in Kubuntu 15.04 for a few weeks now. I did have a few initial problems, but these were solved (Refer Launchpad Question 268006 - https://answers.launchpad.net/variety/+question/268006.

The only remaining issue with using Variety in this environment, is that is you enable "Show Nice Big Digital Clock On The Desktop...), the clock displays as expected - But, the clock is never updated. The clock shows the correct time only immediately after booting, or immediately after stopping and restarting Variety.

The following URL is a link to a screen shot showing the issue: http://i.imgur.com/5Qn5ZhQ.png

Is this a known issue that another KDE workaround is available for, or is this a new issue that should be raised as a bug ?

Many thanks,

Roy

I guess it is part of the same issue, KDE not picking up the updated wallpaper image. Let's see if the changes in the next release I'll make soon will fix this - I will be forcing a new image file name on every wallpaper update, so hopefully every update will be picked by KDEl (after a slight delay of course). Please note that a new release won't overwrite your existing set_wallpaper script if you have made changes to it.

Can you help with this problem?
