Display options for time and date

Thanks a lot for Variety Wallpaper Changer! I am quiet happy with the app. Just got a question: How can I change the color or the place where the time and the date are displayed? Are there any options that I can change in the gui or do I have to do this in a terminal?
Any hint or suggestion highly appreciated!!! Please bear in mind I am a newby in Ubuntu in other words please keep your answer simple :-)
