Does variety inhibit the "lock screen" option?

Asked by Bob Filipiak

I have installed variety and have it running on my system, but when I attempt to "lock" the screen, the lock screen is ignored.

I activate the "lock" function by means of a launcher added to the upper panel. The launcher was created when I used the "add to panel" option (Alt+Rt Click on the panel) and selecting the "Lock Screen" application.

Other than that, I am quite pleased with the way variety can be quickly set up, and create a slide show as a desktop wallpaper.

No, Variety does nothing in regards to locking the screen.
Did you try if your shortcut works when Variety is not running?

Apparently, something removed gnome-screensaver which incorporates the screen locking function.

Reinstallation fixed that problem.
