Variety stopped launching

Asked by EvolMate

Variety was set to store files on (automatically) mounted NTFS partition. Then i have changed the label of that partition so its mountpoint changed too. From then - variety does not run.

Actually it does run but does nothing:

Have tried to remove and purge, reinstalling then - didnt help.
When i type "variety" in terminal - it says "Command not found":

What do I need to do to make it work?
(Running linux mint 14 with mate on lenovo thinkpad x121e 3053-AC5)

Please run from terminal with /opt/extras.ubuntu.com/variety/bin/variety -v and check the log for errors.
To reset Variety to clean state you can delete or rename ~/.config/variety.

Purging variety, and removing that config folder helped so heres kinda solution:

sudo apt-get purge variety
rm -rf ~/.config/variety
sudo apt-get install variety

Sad I've lost my settings but I can deal with it.

Tell me please what and why happened to Variety so I wont repeat my mistake?

I don't really know. The error is obviously related to DBus, but how and why it has started happening is unclear to me. This has no connection to the setting of where files are stored - the error happens at the very start, long before Variety has even started to read the config files or anything.
