USBManager

USB drive mount permissions

Hi,

I'm using usbmanager 1.0.0 on Slackware64 13.37.

When mounted, my USB flash drives always are owned by root.root, so I always have read-only permissions.

Is there a way to mount them so they belong to, say, plugdev group, with group rwx permissions?

Hi!

Yes it's possible, but I rather prefer to solve the root of the problem: USBManager still doesn't support UDisks, which replaced HAL, and when mounting trough HAL fails, it mounts with sudo.

I'm still trying to manage my time to rewrite it, please check again soon.

Hi, and thanks for your answer.

Thing is, Slackware64 13.37 uses HAL so I doubt that's the issue, but I can't say for sure because I didn't investigate it.
As it's not a big problem currently, I'll wait and try new version when you complete it.
Or I'll dig around the code if I manage to find some spare time.

Great software, BTW. Very useful if your desktop environment doesn't have that kind of utility included.

Hum... that's curious. I'll take a look as soon as possible.

If you manage to dig around my code pardon me for the mess, I was really naive when I started. And as I said, USBManager needs to be rewritten so, if you like this project and to code in Python, you'll be very welcome :).

Thanks for this compliments, I was thinking to "deprecate" USBManager, but since you put this way, I'm considering to keep this project up!
