How to start tasks after login and start of X

Asked by Mahesh Asolkar

I want to start a task like 'conky' that requires X to be started. How do I setup an Upstart job to start after I have logged in, X has started and applications that need DISPLAY are ready to go?

Is Upstart not the right choice for this? Should I just use Sessions preference?

I am using Ubuntu Jaunty (9.04) with the version of Upstart that was packaged with it.

Upstart is not the right way to do this, instead you want your software to be started by the X Session Manager

Can you help with this problem?
