Scripts in something other than sh?

First off, I wanted to say that upstart is great! I am very impressed by what it achieves and by its design.
I've been working on a linux distribution where the initscripts are in Lua. Is there a way to change which binary executes the script stanzas? Furthermore, is there a syntax to do that on per-script basis?
Thank you for answers!
