How to Change Unity Theme

Asked by dupingping

I tried to change unity launcher's theme as MacOS's Dock.
But it was impossible. I don't know how to change it.
Please help me, If you tell me the way, I'll make it as a plugin.
And I think that it's very important and useful.

There’s a set of PNG files you can modify to customize Unity Launcher’s look – open your file manager and navigate to the path:

/usr/share/unity/icons

Take them to your user folder, edit them with the graphics editor you prefer, and copy your customizations back to the folder (administrative permissions required). See, for example, what an user did: http://aerilius.deviantart.com/art/Ubuntu-Touch-Launcher-icons-358618366

Then, you may want to change the Launcher’s background color; for that you need to install compizconfig-settings-manager.

Note that it still won’t behave/look exactly as OS X’s Dock, though.
