Official current version of Unity for Ubuntu Raring

Asked by Gilles Tournier

I wanted to know what version of Unity should be currently used as standard for Ubuntu 13.04 raring. When I look at my installed package, I seem to have a "daily snapshot" version, as indicated by my current version: unity 7.0.0daily13.04.18~13.04-0ubuntu1
I don't remember ever choosing a daily repository for unity...I have disabled backports altogether. But still I don't seem to be able to reinstall or force a more official version of this package.
If it is indeed the correct version I should use, I would like to know if this was a recent update released around or after June 6, 2013 and there was possibly another version before that date. The issue here is that I have used a patched Cryptkeeper (the patch was made for it to be compatible with Unity appindicator API, thus making it show in the Unity panel when launched). This patched version solved the "Cryptkeeper-not-showing-in-the-systray" problem and it worked fine until around June 6th - but hasn't worked since then. I can only guess that some update of Unity or its dependencies caused that regression.

That's the official version. It has "daily" appended to the version number only because of the new automatic packaging process that allows to deploy code changes to the Ubuntu Archive without needing to package them manually. It is a stable version, though.

FWIW, the automatic versioning schema has been modified, dropping the confusing “daily” :-)
