If you want to restore Unity to its default state, check this: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2005159

Hi ,
the generally answer to restore Unity to defaults is to run from terminal (ctrl+alt+t) below command

+++++++++++++++++++
unity --reset
+++++++++++++++++++

wait for 10-15 minutes. Do not close the terminal . If command seems to loop , logout and login to see if settings fixed.

Thank you.
