What happened to modal dialogues?

A year ago or so I saw a preliminary implementation of modal dialogues in Compiz. Since then there have not been any news. What happened to it?

Modal dialogues has been pushed to the next release Ubuntu 12.10. I remember reading it in a bug report but cannot find it at the moment.

Thanks, a link would be nice but it's nice to say it's still in the pipeline.
