Will Unity any time soon allow you to move the launcher panel

Now that the Ubuntu button is on the Laucher (as from screenshots I see of Ubuntu 11.10 beta), there's really no reason to keep the launcher stuck at the left of the screen, would it be at all possible to put in a setting that allows Unity launcher to appear at different positions of the screen? I would prefer it at the bottom and there are a few that agree with me I'm sure. Not saying it's for everybody but it would make Unity nicer IMO.

Or maybe you've looked into this, I haven't tested the new version of Unity so I can't say, I'm just talking :P

This has been talked about several times. As of now, such feature is not being implemented. However, it may be implemented in the future.

I personally prefer it on the left, but many people might prefer it on the right for example and I think freedom is one of the things that made Ubuntu so famous, so why not keep the freedom? But it's up to the design team to make calls such as these, and making it movable may have disadvantages that we don't know about.

I myself would prefer it across the bottom, and am working on this right now. Will post an update if I'm successful, I agree a choice would be nice.
