How can I launch a second instance of a running application?

Asked by Ricardo Bánffy

When I click on the application icon on the launcher, I am directed to the currently running application. There appears to be no way to launch a second instance of the app (say, Terminator - I like to keep different windows on different workspaces).

Try clicking the icon with middle mouse button. Alternatively, launch the second instance from Dash.

At least in a touchpad, you can also click with the left and the right button at the same time to open a new instance. This is very difficult for me sometimes. Does anyone know if shift+click will be implemented?

It should have an entry in the right-click menu.
Since 3 finger tap as middle-click doesn't work anymore due to compiz "love handles", I have to launch another instance by opening via dash or command-line.

Can you help with this problem?
