Opening multiple instances via the Unity Bar

Asked by Chris Wilkinson

After struggling for a while and asking about I still can't find a way of opening multiple instances of an application via the Unity Bar.

For example:
If I have Open Office Word Processor pinned to the Unity Bar and click on the icon, the application launches fine. If I click on the icon whilst the application is running at any point I get the current instance shown to me. How do I start a new instance from the bar? I imagined like with Docky that you could right click and select New Window to get a fresh instance but you can't.

Is there a way of doing this that I haven't found?

Cheers
Chris

I am not sure as to when this started working, but you can now use the Unity bar to open a new window for an application that is already open. Right click on the application icon and select "Open New Window" is currently working as of 16th December 2010.

I have not figured out how to open the same right click menu using a touch screen input yet, when just using my fingers. I can use the digital stylus that came with my Lenovo X201T to open the right click menu, as that has a button that acts like the right click.

Can you help with this problem?
