How do I access help

Asked by David Stevenson

Using 10.10rc on eeepc901.
I can not see any direct way of opening the gnome help that the software centre says is installed.
I guess sub questions include how is unity help/documentation?
And how do I find the ubuntu version as in System->AboutUbuntu on a gnome desktop.

David,
I have the same problem. I can't find the help system as an application to place in the launcher panel. I did discover that the Gnome help system will kick in if I hit help|contents| in a program such as shotwell. The Gnome help system will show up in my panel but when I right click on this icon it doesn't give me the option to keep it in the launcher. Other applications like the updater package will let me right click on the icon in the panel when it is running and give me this option to keep it there.

This is my first time on the Launchpad site, and I am looking for some answers too for a few problems. I will keep you posted if I learn anything else about the help system. This is my wife's netbook, and I just upgraded from netbook 10.04 and lost everything in the home directory. Fortunately I backed it up to an external drive. I have upgraded my other laptop in the past without that problem.
