Adding Apps on unity Panel with right-clik

Asked by Winael

Hi

I install unity interface and I see that's not possible for now to add an app on the unity panel with a simple right-click. The only way I found for know is to open the application and when it's opened and the icon is visible on panel to right clik on it and add the application. And it doesn't work for few apps like Freemind or Moovida.

Will it be more simple to add application in the future ?

BR,
Winael

It will definitely be easier in the future.
There's some discussion in the bug tracker about how dragging and dropping the icons in the launcher should work but for now is only segfaulting the app and I remember some sketches in Mark Shuttleworth (if my memory is not betraying me) about acessing the apps menu structures in some new, horizontal way.

It was really difficult to find how to add an app on the Unity panel. It's not intuitive.

Thanks for your help,
Antonio

And for the rest who ponder how on earth to edit the unity menu, one can add it by first running the application, and then right click the application and "keep in launcher".

Nice looking interface anyway! I like it!

Great (but non-intuitive) when it works. Some apps, it just doesn't work. I'm having this problem with chromium, which is definitely one of the most used apps on my computers.

Well, it would be nice to have at least one of the following:
1) right-click a gnome panel and add some stuff (as it _was_ in gnome panel)
2) drag&drop (a file, an executable, desktop item etc.) to the empty space

the small main menü-button would save a lot of space instead of the normal menü-button (apps, places, system).

Can you help with this problem?
