How to create a desktop or folder icon for Unity Tweak Tool

Asked by Carr McCormack III

Installed Unity Tweak Tool for easier control over the Unity desktop in Ubuntu 14.04 LTS. I would like to create a an icon to launch the program and place it in my Admin folder on the desktop rather than having to wade throught the main apps menu. Have looked in /usr/share, /usr/bin, and various other places and can not find the launcher. Any help or pointers much appreciated.

The binary is in /usr/bin/unity-tweak-tool. The .desktop (probably what you are looking for) is stored at /usr/share/applications/unity-tweak-tool.desktop.

Copy the .desktop file to the folder you want.

Seth

Many thanks for your help and direction. One place I did not look was in /user/share/applications.

I hope you and your family have a Merry Christmas and again thanks very much for the help.
