Scale addon (without compiz)

Asked by Mohegan

Is it possible to show all opened windows (like the compiz scale add-on) ?
I think it would be easy because it is the same function than the show workplaces (second click on a worplace) in unity-2d.

Maybe, I can use a shortcut or brightside (corner actions that are activated when the mouse cursor moves to one of the desktop's corners).

Do you mean show all open windows across all workspaces? If so, that would be bug #757312.

No, just for the current workspace. With unity (3d version), I use the scale addon in order to show all open windows from the current workspace at the same time I show the unity launcher (at the top left corner for me). So, it is very easy and quickly to switch between open windows. It is easiest than the normal way : show the unity launcher, click on a program icon, select the appropriate windows and finally click.

Maybe you can try the keyboard shortcut Super+s which will bring up the workspaces switcher quicker than showing the launcher and clicking on an icon. Doing this will show all windows for all applications on the current workspace.

It is quicker but not enough quickly. I just want show all open windows with my mouse like the unity launcher.

I believe the corner actions that you mention are something specific to Compiz that metacity doesn’t have. Therefore, the short answer would be "not possible". However you can still modify your session to run unity-2d with Compiz, that should do the trick.

Ok, thanks for the answers. Maybe, I will do myself by modifying the source code. I take a look at source and I think I can show at the same time the unity launchers and the workspace switchers (only the second click when you choose one workspace and it is showing all open windows in the choosing workplace). So, I don't need a specific corner actions program.

Can you help with this problem?
