what is this karmic URL ending in .deb?

Asked by Ken N9VV

Hello, I found this website while trying to get a version of
Ubuntu Karmic (9.10) that I can install with unetbootin
http://packages.ubuntu.com/karmic/unetbootin

from it I got a file downloaded called:
unetbootin_323-1_i386.deb

what am I supposed to do with that .deb file? is it specifically for unetbootin running on Linux?

thanks for any help,
Ken

Deb packages are the installation format for users already running Ubuntu/Debian. I assume you're on Windows; you want to use the .exe version from http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/

Alternatively, if you were looking for an daily iso image for karmic to use with UNetbootin, see http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/

that makes perfect sense. thank you Geza. Yes, I see .deb is
clearly a Linux suffix.
thank you,
