how do I format my USB stick?

Asked by Ken N9VV

Hello, I can not find any instructions that tell me how to prepare my 1GB Flash USB stick before running unetbootin. I tried using the FAT32 format and when I tried to boot from the USB stick I got a Windows
error that "no bootable partition is available" on the USB device.

Where are the instructions for preparing the USB device before running unetbootin to put an .iso image on a USB stick?

thank you very much,
Ken - Naperville, IL USA

Hello, I finally found out that I can use Windows FORMAT and just format my USB stick.
I did that in FAT32.
Then I ran unetbootin using the karmic-alternate-i386.iso (725,204KB)
Unetbootin gave me a nice menu
no matter what menu item I select, the boot just hands with a blank screen
Help please,
thanks,
Ken

Try the live version (karmic-desktop-i386.iso) instead, I've heard that the alternate iso requires various special boot parameters to work from USB.
