how to update the version(s) in the repositories

Asked by sudodus

Hi Geza,

I have noticed that the version of Unetbootin in your PPA works well, also to create newer systems than those of the system where it is running. This is not the case with the version(s) in Ubuntu's repositories. I'm not sure about the situation in Debian (or if they share the versions). Anyway, how can your current version be pushed into Ubuntu's repositories. Who is responsible for it? How can that person or group be alerted about the problem?

If you have found that person or group unresponsive, maybe it would be better to remove Unetbootin from the repositories.

I'm helping people create bootable USB pendrives - for example I have developed mkusb which wraps security around dd. Unetbootin is more advanced, for example it can easily create persistent live drives, which is not possible with mkusb. So I want to make your current and working version easily available for people (many of them have learned to install from the repositories).

Best regards
Nio
