Mythbuntu 12.04.2 64-bit ISO FAILS at unetbootin menu screen

Asked by neutron68

I'm trying to make a bootable USB Flash drive from the Mythbuntu 12.04.2 64-bit ISO image file from http://www.mythbuntu.org/downloads

I checked the MD5SUMS code to be sure the ISO was not corrupt. The code matched.
1065b482382203d367cf7ce1c69b7c51 (for mythbuntu-12.04.2-desktop-amd64.iso)

There is no distro choice for Mythbuntu 12.04.2 so I guessed that I should choose Ubuntu 12.04.
Maybe the lack of a Mythbuntu choice is the problem??

The flash drive made with unetbootin, boots to a menu screen, but every menu item fails with an error message.

I posted the report on a Ubuntu bug report page and user vorlon ( https://launchpad.net/~vorlon ) claimed the problem was unetbootin and Universal USB Installer altering the ISO image contents.

see (towards the bottom) https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-cdimage/+bug/1077388

Does that seem like the problem?
