Small note: to use UCK in a Live-CD, I made a link to a drive with 150G free space:
ln -s /media/usbdisk/uck-tmp $HOME/tmp

the partition is mounted with the wrong settings, use your home directory or mount it with the same setting of /home or /root

How can I "mount" the partition in other way?
I start Live-CD, install UCK, plug a big USB drive to work, and:
mkdir /media/usbdisk/uck-tmp
ln -s /media/usbdisk/uck-tmp /home/ubuntu/tmp

i think you can't use uck within a livecd

Why?
I've tried this in a computer with 4GiB of RAM memory, and using a ext3-formatted external media for temporary UCK's work.

I'm using Ubuntu 9.04 installed on my computer (I cannot upgrade now for non-related reasons), and cannot rebuild 9.10 images with UCK. Is for this reason I'm trying to make use of UCK with a v9.10 Live-CD.

This issue was fixed here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/uck/+bug/228235
When you start uck there's workaround mentioned on welcome screen:
...
Requirements:
1. about 5 GB of free disk space in /home/artem/tmp
(on local machine and mounted with "dev, suid, exec" options)
...
so it's crucial to remount filesystem where ~/tmp folder resides with "dev, suid, exec" options
(in my case it's a filesystem on a separate partition with mount point /home, maybe you have /home inside root filesystem)

you can do it this way:

sudo mount -o remount,dev,suid,exec /home

or if you have not separate partition for /home:

sudo mount -o remount,dev,suid,exec /

Then try "Run console application" one more time.
