Ubuntu 9.04: uck stops after starting the console with "Failed to contact the GConf daemon; exiting"

I used uck with Ubuntu 8.04 before several times without any problems.

Hello, encountered same here. As of today, I use xubuntu 9.04 cd image (iso) as workaround. Currently investigating how to present gnome/ubuntu login manager, yet. Rgds, Dani

Update: workaround for gnome-terminal bug is under way, see https://bugs.launchpad.net/uck/+bug/363710, update by Fabrizio.
