Root nessisary for gui? useing sudo su icon?

Root nessisary for gui? useing sudo su icon? I try to use the GUI and it stops after saying ok when I say I want to change packages. I tiped in root password I wonder if it needed to be started in root.

uck-gui doesn't run as root, you can check the .desktop file, when the remastering starts than we switch to sudo, this is the best behaviour we can have until we'll be able to do all the process as a normal user
