Remastering Oneiric-Alternate/32Bit doesnt work

Asked by ranseyer

Does someone has experience with Remastering Onerirc-Alternate / 32 Bit ?

I get during the installation a red window: "Failure trying to run: chroot /target --force-depends --install /var/cache/apt/archives/base-passwd_3.5.23_i386.deb ...base-files_6.4ubuntu4_i386.deb"

I tried this first on Lucid with my usual environment.
So now i have switched to a fresh oneiric/32/alternate developer-system (UCK 2.4.4) and i only have done this:
    * uck-remaster-unpack-iso xxxx.iso
    * uck-remaster-prepare-alternate
    * uck-remaster-finalize-alternate xxxxxxx
    * uck-remaster-pack-iso
(I have changed nothing in the ISO for the first step)

After i got the error Message i have tested:
 * "chroot /target" : works
 * in the passwd there exists "root"...
 * /var/cache/apt dont exist

Some Picutures are here: http://www.easyvdr-forum.de/forum/index.php?topic=12538

It looks like the Problem is solved in this way:

The lastest UCK Version from the SVN seems a little bit better:
( svn co https://uck.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/uck uck )
The one more Fix: https://bugs.launchpad.net/uck/+bug/842487

I will will close the problem after some more tests.

Hi,

i have done a lot of tests. One was sucessfull and the others not. So i have to do more tests with clean envoronment!
I think the is another bug...

What i can say is:
A) My Problem seems not really fixed for 32Bit Ubuntu.
Does somebody know what in my ISO is not O.K. so i can check the problem from this direction:
-first manually fixing an then checking whats going wrong with UCK ?

B) The $ARCH Problem seems to be fixed (little test):
##########################
# detecting architecture #
##########################
...
echo $ARCH >>/arch.txt
ARCH=i386

==============================

# cat /arch.txt
i386

for the first part of the question ("A") please check the iso against ubuntu's md5, uck can't do that automatically cause we would have to download the md5 files but it depends on ubuntu version and, at that time, we still don't know what version we're remastering

The Problem still exists with oneiric-386 final and the actual uck-tools from sourceforge.
I will open a bug for this, because i didnt find the solution, and would be happy about any help...

Can you help with this problem?
