Which consequences are when selecting KDE/Gnome/Others?

Asked by Narcis Garcia

I'd like to know what implies, for example, choosing "others" in the window manager selection.
With an Ubuntu (Gnome) in the package manager I see the same gnome packages.

that selection affects the language related packages UCK automatically installs, "others" actually means "don't install desktop environment language pack"

If I select "Others" and then install OpenBox and maintain/add GTK-dependent applications, can this affect to language availability for that applications?

it depends on the application, i can't say that, anyway language packs should comprend only GNOME applications bundled with the default GNOME release

Then I think that the query dialog:
"Please choose desktop environments which will be present on costumized CD\n(you can choose more than one)
kde
gnome
others"

Needs to be improved:

"Please choose desktop environments to include its language packs on costumized CD
(you can choose more than one)
KDE language packs
Gnome language packs
None / I'll install other language packs
"

at the moment we've only language packs installed but this is a general question that could involve more things than language packs only thus i'd leave it as is...
