How to change ubiquity release name

Asked by Sayantan Das

How can I change the release name in ubiquity installer ? ( where it says "Try Ubuntu" and "Install Ubuntu"). I am not able to find .disk/info file on the chrooted file system which contains the information. Is there any other way around? or am i missing something?

Can't really answer that - haven't played around with ubiquity lately.

That I can answer: It's not there. The .disk/info file is only accessible outside the chroot environment.
It resides in the top level directory of the ISO FS.

If you need to modify the file you will need to do it outside the chroot environment. Have a look at the
customize_iso script - this gets run after the chrooted session has finished and has access to the full ISO FS.

Note that you will have to resort to the command line (i.e. uck-remaster) to specify a preexisting
customization-scripts directory - uck-gui replaces it every time it is called.

Sure!
There are two solutions to this.
1. Once the .iso file is mounted, go into the folder $HOME/tmp/remaster-iso/.disk . There, you will find the file named info which you can edit . That changed name would be the name of your distribution and would appear everywhere in ubiquity by default.

2. Use ISO Master to edit the .disk/info file before starting uck. Solution given to me at askubuntu.com : http://askubuntu.com/questions/43942/how-to-change-ubiquity-release-name/43958#43958
