installation script returned error exit status 2

Asked by sirgad

Hi,

Running Ubuntu 10.10 AMD-64 in Parallels 6 on OS X 10.6.6. UCK version installed earlier today through Ubuntu Software Center.

I'm trying to update the Ubuntu 10.10 AMD64 ISO through the GUI and "Mark All Upgrades > Apply". This is before making any other changes to the ISO. This is the same ISO I used to install the Ubuntu client I'm working in. After a LONG download and install process, I get the following errors:

E: linux-image-2.6.35-22-generic: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 2
E: linux-image-2.6.35-28-generic: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 2
E: linux-image-generic: dependency problems - leaving unconfigured
E: linux-generic: dependency problems - leaving unconfigured

Any advice?

Thanks,

S.

You can try to manually fix the problem by instructing UCK to give you a console when the customization is run.
Within the console you can try to "apt-get -f" tp fix broken dependencies and you can then try to run "apt-get upgrade" again. This will give you more infromation on why the upgrade fails. I suspect that it is (again) one of those scripts in /etc/kernel/postinst.d that cannot properly handle updates in a chrooted environment.

Additionally: Some changes in that specific area were made for the UCK version available from our stable PPA - you might wnat to check the version available there.

Can you help with this problem?
