is there a local cache?

Asked by mertin

Is there a local cache of the files uploaded to Ubuntu One? Where is it located in the filesystem, and, is it write/readable? Also, if there is a local cache, is there a way to keep it from being created, so that the files are ONLY in the cloud (to save HD space)?

Hi Mertin,

Ubuntu One synchronizes your files rather than storing them in the Ubuntu One cloud like a network server. So, all your files are in your ~/Ubuntu One folder (and possibly others if you're using an early release of Lucid or our beta PPA) plus stored in the Ubuntu One cloud. The only way to do what you want (store files in the cloud only) would be to turn off the Ubuntu One client on your computer and upload files via the web UI.

Thank you,

Joshua
