Fusion with DropBox?

Asked by osiixy

Why don't you fuse with DropBox?

Dear Joshua, thank you for your response, I'm really greetful for it. Sorry, I was laconic. I'll try to explicate my oppinion (also my question) litlle bit further.
------
Ok, I'm not able to see deeper (concerns, conflicts), it's just a reflection of a small, unqualified person.
However in my mind if you join each other you could be more powerful and experienced (knowledge, resources, developers, community).

In my oppinion both of these solutions' substance is data storeing with some additional services (icidentallies).

Both of you have your own pro&contras and I know UbuntuOne has got a lot of further plans too but why don't you unite your forces (for ex. UO gets app syncs (notes, bookmarks) and a new user group, DB has crossplatform yet (Iphone too!), an older community and both have resources, developer, experience and plans).

It could be a good deal just take a look at Compiz ((old) Compiz + Beryl => Compiz Fusion (and Compiz again)), they had their own goals but the essence was the nicer UI. They have joined their forces and got better solution (probably the OpenSource means somekind that, together for together).

Ok I know DB isn't opensource (yet but the launchpad wasn't always neither :-) ) however it could be great if you make co-operation. (I don't see nor concerns neither conflicts but perhaps the profit can be a snag)

Maybe you can create a more effecient, wider system (good, usable, united services with great crossplatform) and what is more it could have an expressive new name: getOne. :-)

That was the reason why I asked this question.

Hi, I'm not sure what you mean by "fuse with DropBox". DropBox is a solid file syncing service. Ubuntu One has a file syncing service as well as the ability to sync other types of data (contacts, notes, bookmarks) and will continue to add additional services in the future.

Thank you,

Joshua

Well, thanks for your suggestion, but it's not going to happen, too many differences.
