contribute to future dev

Asked by thesheff17

I would like to get involved if I can with the Ubuntu One Server/Client team and see if we can improve some of the functionality if it isn't already there. I would love to see Ubuntu One use rsync w/ compression to transfer between A and B. Also it would be great to build a git repository behind the files on the server. This would also save on spaces since the changes in the text files would be saved incrementally on the server. It would be great to see a git menu within nautilus menu to see diff between files and other features within a revision control system. I would also like some notification once the files sync reaches 100%. I know that the icon will disappear which is fine but does it disappear the second the transfer is done?

Let me say though Ubuntu One is a great feature already and I can't believe I lived without it this long. I have been using grsync for the longest time to sync to a web server I have a public ip for. Keep up the great work on open source software & Ubuntu.

Let me know.

Great suggestions!

Firefox bookmark syncing is available now: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuOne/Tutorials/Bookmarks

Doing more efficient uploads (including sending compressed deltas rather than the full file) is definitely something we are interested in. If you have a look at launchpad.net/ubuntuone-storage-protocol it shows the protocol that is currently defined, and if you want to work on a proposal for handling deltas we'd definitely be interested in that.

Can you help with this problem?
