U1 file recovery

Asked by SimonJ

Hi,

I have been using u1 for a little while and was using it to sync my final year project between a couple of computers.

I have just returned from a weeks break to find some of my files are missing, is there anyway they could be recovered (like the undelete feature of dropbox)?

Regards,

Simon

I have assigned rye, as he was able to help me out once with an undelete. Hopefully he'll be able to help in this case as well.

Hello,
There is a work-in-progress interface for file recovery available at https://edge.one.ubuntu.com/files/trash/root/ - it may time out upon first request though if you have a lot of deleted objects. In case you are unable to find the deleted file please notify us via https://one.ubuntu.com/support/contact/ and we will perform an admin recovery for all the files.

What client version are you running? Could you please file a bug about the files deleted and attach the archived log files from ~/.cache/ubuntuone/log/ so that we could find out why the files got deleted and whether that was done by syncdaemon?

Are you using encrypted home directory?

Thanks for the link to the tool, I went back just over a week and couldn't find them.

The client version is 1.4.6-0ubuntu2, I'll post the logs after this.

I'm not using an encrypted home folder.

Is it possible they have been marked as a conflict on another computer? I'm currently unable to check -- aswell as finding the files gone on my return, the other computer's motherboard is blown and I'm still working on getting it back up and running.

Can you help with this problem?
