Automatic synchronization of files not in Ubuntu One directory

Asked by AJF

It there an easier way to sync files to Ubuntu One without setting up a cron job to tar and compress the files and copy them to the Ubuntu One directory? I just think it shouldn't need to be this difficult to sync various files and folders.

What I do is move the files to my Ubuntu One directory and then create a symlink where they were originally stored. Seems to work fine.

That would work for me with one exception: I installed ubuntu via wubi and I still have windows installed for some compatibility reasons, and the files I back up are on the windows side, so I cant link them, because while in windows the ubuntu drive is not available for access. Thanks anyway.

Hi Avery, We do have plans to support syncing files outside the ~/Ubuntu One folder for Lucid, but right now the best workaround is the one hackel mentioned. Unfortunately, this workaround does not work for your particular use case. Thank you, Joshua
