Maybe you could look at www.xmarks.com, This program will store all of your bookmarks and syncronize them with other computers you may own, It does this automatically and will, if you want to, also safely store your Firefox passwords.

You might want to take a look at Bindwood[1][2]. Its goals are exactly this: to sync Firefox bookmarks to a Desktop CouchDB (and from there up to the cloud through CouchDB's built-in support for replication).

[1] lp:bindwood
[2] Right now, I'm in the process of packaging up a bug-fix branch to go to at least my PPA, and from there up to universe. You might want to hold off installing the bindwood package from universe for a little while.

We don't yet have a web front-end for the bookmarks that get synced to U1. It's on the immediate roadmap, and I'll be implementing that. Stay tuned.
